This is one of the most famous restaurants in Santo Domingo and a place that I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience authentic Dominican cuisine. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere and offers a great introduction to some of the country's most iconic dishes. The highlight of my visit was definitely the Mofongo. Made from mashed fried plantains and crispy pork, this traditional Dominican dish was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors and textures was outstanding, creating a rich and satisfying meal that was both comforting and unique. What impressed me most was how well it suited my taste as a Japanese visitor. The balance of flavors is surprisingly approachable, and I believe many Japanese people would enjoy it as well. It is one of those local specialties that is easy to appreciate from the very first bite. The other dishes we tried were also excellent, all prepared with great flavor and generous portions. Overall, this is an excellent restaurant for anyone visiting Santo Domingo. If you have the opportunity, be sure to try the mofongo—it was one of the best local dishes I experienced during my stay and is something I would happily order again.
Food was ok. We waited extra for the mashed potatoes. We were charged extra for the mofongo, first he said that was the price and when he showed me the menu I was right. Second excuse was “impuesto” and third excuse extra chicharrón. It wasn’t about the money but the principal. Always check your receipts. This place is not about the quality of the food.
Food is pretty good, even though the meats are overcooked for my taste. Service is mediocre at best, always very slow. Atmosphere is okay.
One of the worst service experiences I’ve had in the DR. The female employee was extremely rude and cleared our table without even asking whether we had finished eating. When we paid the bill, her attitude was terrible, completely unwelcoming and unprofessional. The food itself was only okay, and the rice was hard and cold. For a USD 70 meal, this was honestly a disgraceful experience. Good service is the bare minimum for a restaurant at this price point. Management seriously needs to train their staff better, because the current level of customer service is unacceptable. I would not return.
First time coming here. Food was not bad but it could definitely be better. Service is terrible, servers know that tip is included which is probably why they don’t care to offer good service. They made it seem like it was inconvenience to take our order which was very frustrating. The new server we got was a bit better but still didn’t feel comfortable. Family got cocido, bistec, chicharrón de pollo, pasta, and mofongo. Steak was good but rice and beans were not the best. Pasta was not bad. Cocido was good according to family but the mofongo was not. They had a good variety. There juices are very good, can’t complain. Tables were dirty when we arrived which is what brought the atmosphere down a bit but overall and good atmosphere with good music. Probably would not come back or recommend due to very poor service.
