Food provided was cold every meal. Same items served 3 times a day. No vegetables except some tiny pieces of carrot with potatoes a couple times. No fruit except for some small watermelon slices about 3 times in the week. Same cold rice, spaghetti without sauce and mashed plaintain all 3 meals a day. Runny cereal a couple breakfasts. Ran out of food a couple days before everyone was served. For athletes this was a very bad menu. Nothing to drink with first meal.
Very nice place, very clean and organize.
Not the best experience at Albergue in the dorms and single room. Stayer there during an event. Dorms toilet sink was leaking consistently on the ground and we had to use the trash bin to empty the toilet. No reperations were attempted during the 7 day stay and they charged 25usd a night for it for an accomodation that was not suitable for living condition. Most of the staff is amable and food was ok, altough repetitive.
I recently had the opportunity to stay at Albergue Olímpico Dominicano twice, and I must say that my experiences were quite different. It's evident that the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on the overall quality of the accommodation, but the excellent staff and delicious meals manage to salvage the experience. During my first stay, which took place before the pandemic, Albergue Olímpico Dominicano was a truly fantastic place. The beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, providing a pleasant respite from the heat. The all-inclusive meal package was a delight, offering a wide variety of delicious local staples for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, my second stay painted a different picture. Unfortunately, upon arrival, I encountered issues with the air conditioning in my room. Though the staff responded promptly and fixed the problem by the morning of my second day, it was an inconvenience that marred the initial experience. Kudos to the staff for their professionalism and courtesy throughout this process, as they remained friendly and helpful despite the setback. One aspect that remained consistent between both stays was the exceptional quality of the meals. The food at Albergue Olímpico Dominicano is still top-notch, offering a diverse selection of local dishes that cater to various tastes. The all-inclusive meal package is an excellent value, making dining a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, some of my colleagues faced more significant challenges during their stay. Issues such as water leaking from the ceiling during heavy rains, lack of functioning air conditioning, and missing shower heads were reported in their rooms. It seems that the quality of rooms can be hit-or-miss, depending on one's luck. While my second experience was not as impressive as the first, I can't help but feel optimistic about the potential for improvement. As the COVID-19 pandemic recedes and traffic at the accommodation picks up, there's hope that Albergue Olímpico Dominicano will regain its former glory. The dedication and professionalism of the staff are commendable, and with some refurbishments and maintenance, this place can undoubtedly reclaim its spot as a fantastic getaway option. Overall, Albergue Olímpico Dominicano is still a decent choice, especially considering the all-inclusive meal package and the warm hospitality of the staff. However, if you're looking for a guarantee of top-notch accommodation, it might be worth researching the current state of the rooms or waiting for the accommodation to fully recover from the impact of the pandemic.
Not to be rude but the facilities are not like other reviews say. I went here in October 2018 with a group for the ITF taekwondo Pan-Americans and the rooms were small, messy, and problematic. One room had a door lock which didn’t work while others had moss and one even had its lightbulb stolen! The food is bad 80% of the time. The staff are nice and they’re the reason this place gets more than one star. Also has good non-housing facilities. Overall, an experience that can be bettered in the food and housing sections.
