Ate here while on vacation as it was highly recommended for authentic Dominican food. Place is nice and got right in but service was very slow even though it was well staffed. Seemed to be a lot standing around talking rather than working. Food was decent but nothing I’d go back for. Had a few other places in downtown district that weren’t nearly as nice but the food and service was so much better than here and half the price! Finished our meal and it took the server 20-25min to get our check and that was only when we stopped him. Definitely a language barrier while ordering as we speak English and seemed server didn’t want to deal with us.

My friends and I went to this restaurant last January 7, 2026. It's a Dominican Creole food restaurant chain established in April 2017. They have seven restaurants in the Dominican Republic. We visited the one in Punta Cana. It's a spacious place with ample parking. The entire decor is centered around their brand image: Doña Pula. It's definitely a well-maintained brand. They have branded soft drinks, framed artwork with their signature, and giant images. The service is good, as is the food, for a chain restaurant. We ordered several dishes: pork crackling, chicken cracklings, and grilled chicken breast with tostones (fried plantains). The beers and cocktails were good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable.

Unfortunately, I have to say this place is very generic. I anticipated a flavorful memorable experience. I was served bland, basic, commercialized food. I ordered a mofongo with steak. Very disappointing. Cheese bites, rice and beans, chicharron, and shrimp not so good. Pina colada, not worth it either. Stick to the neighborhood street vendors for authentic yumyums! The location was convenient. Clean and fun to people watch.

We chose the place expecting to not have great food based on the opinions but we were positively surprised with quality of the food mofongo, sancocho were full of flavour 😋 Ribs and burger with good quality of meat 🍖 branded juices taste natural and not too sweet. I think it could be not one visit only

Finally got to visit the famous Doña Pula. Dominican food authenticity was barely there! I personally ordered the Mofongo which traditionally comes with chicharron , this was a very sorry tasting Mofongo! Wow , incredibly disappointing! To add , the serving comes with 1-2 pieces of chicharron 😅, chicharron was ok ; nothing crazy. My son ordered the Pula Mofongo , which consists of everything. Shrimp / longaniza “ I think it was longaniza 😆 “ / chicharron / carne frita “ the shrimp was good / longaniza was more of a normal sausage with a good try at making longaniza / carne frita was ok. My wife ordered the Sancocho , bland as well. Let’s round this up. If you’re at one of the hotels looking for an authentic Dominican seasoning food experience , stick to your hotel! This spot ain’t it! I recommend trying “ Eli Empanadas “ little locals spot , this spot is authentic! The Mofongo / Mofongo con crema were AMAZING!!! We also had the emanadillas which were very tasty as well! Google Maps or whatever map you use “ Eli Empanadas “
