I did a 4 night stay here recently and I can’t believe what a great time I had! Starting with Alexandra from the front desk! She was super sweet, welcoming, and honestly made me feel comfortable from the moment I checked in. Since I’m not from there, she took the time to recommend different places to check out, good food spots, nightlife, and things to do around Santo Domingo. It really helped make my trip way more enjoyable and showed how much she cared about guests having a good experience beyond just the hotel itself. My room was super cute and dainty, and I loved how cold the AC got because the heat down there was absolutely NO joke! The bed was comfortable and the room always felt relaxing after being out. The only thing I wish I had was a better balcony view, but honestly I still enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the atmosphere anyway. There’s also a rooftop bar and pool on the 19th floor and the view is absolutely breathtaking, especially at night. The music upstairs created such a vibe every evening and made it easy to just relax and enjoy yourself. James, the bar manager, was incredible the entire stay. He was super accommodating, attentive, and made sure everything with the food, drinks, and even room service was always taken care of. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does and wants guests to have a good time. Great customer service like that really stands out and made the experience even better for me. Overall, I had such an amazing stay and I can’t wait to come back and bring friends so they can experience it too!
A nice comfortable stay but I wouldn’t call it 5 star. The property is nice and clean, well maintained and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. However the apartments could do with better finishing. The cupboards in our kitchen were practically empty, no wine glasses, only 1 spoon, only 3 mugs and no utensils. We had to pay a $100 deposit at check in in case we lost or damaged any of this stuff, but it wasn’t there. I did report it and the staff were good, but the wine glasses I requested never arrived. Not a huge deal but might impact longer stays. I also thought the linens weren’t of 5 star quality, only 2 pillows which could do with replacing, small towels and no tea towel at all in the kitchen. But, the pool area and views were lovely, the gym a great space and overall a comfortable stay.
The location is excellent. The staff was very friendly and it's in a secure location. The hotel was very clean. The pool area with the roof top bar and music was awesome. They have a gym and kids play area. The view was great. The opportunities come in the room with the spotty wifi, only one tv in the bedroom, the hot water only being warm water, and not having all the basic cooking pots and pans. Aside from those opportunities I would recommend this stay.
I’m writing this review to share a really disappointing experience I had at the Aston Rubi. I had reserved a room back in September specifically for the busy time of the Bad Bunny concert, so I expected that my reservation would be honored. Unfortunately, when I arrived at 3am today, my reserved room was simply not available. The hotel staff told me they had a system error and they were fully booked, leaving me without a place to stay for the night. In other words, I ended up basically stranded. I understand that it was a busy time, but that’s exactly why I booked well in advance. The hotel’s lack of organization and their failure to honor a confirmed reservation is completely unacceptable. I hope this review helps others be aware that the Aston Rubi might not be reliable when it comes to keeping their bookings. I’d recommend double-checking and having a backup plan if you’re considering staying here during a busy event.
I love this hotel. The staff is amazing (hugs and kisses to Fernando ❤️), the rooms are clean, pretty and comfortable, the pool is great, the windows are noise cancelling (very important for those who need silence to fall asleep). The entire experience was awesome.
