But what they don’t fully capture is the experience. Juan is a professional, a craftsman, and a savvy businessman. But more than that, he has real presence. He’s super friendly and has a kind of charisma. It’s more than just a hair cut, which makes it worth the trip. I went in desperate for a cut while staying in Las Terrenas. My usual barber, my wife, didn’t bring her kit. She’s self-trained, but she’s gotten so good I’m reluctant to let a stranger cut it. But Juan’s charisma and energy drew me in. I was walking to Lindo, the French-owned super market for the first time, which meant walking into town from Las Bellenas Beach (15-20 minutes), and right past ⭐️ Bigmaster Barber 💈Barbershop ⭐️ It’s well located on a nice stretch of the main road. Handsome building and exterior, lots of windows and natural light, and very clean and well organized, with a retro-vibe. Super sharp sign and logo. Seems impossible to miss, but I almost walked right by it 🤓! But fortunately, despite being in the middle of another haircut and deftly managing the guy’s hawk-eyed perfectionist wife, Juan saw me and my awful mop of hair, and in what looked like one fluid motion, ran over, threw open the door, and called out, “Hey mister, you need haircut!” He was not wrong. The man has flourish: the cape flip, the rapid-fire scissors, the confident finishing touches. He makes a simple haircut feel like an event. Was it exactly the haircut my wife would have given me? No. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Definitely recommend it. And one practical tip: bring cash. I made the rookie mistake of not asking first, but Juan trusted me to come back with it, which I did. That sealed it for me. Good haircut, good price, and a memorable BIGger than life experience from the MASTER himself! 💇‍♂️
