A perfect 5.0, a friend who undersold it, an AI that picked the wrong night — it wins anyway 🌿 Alba texted me “un barcito de cocteles que está de lo más chulo” — a little cocktail bar, super cute. Reader, she undersold it like calling the ocean “a bit of water.” Chin Chin is the best drink in Las Terrenas, full stop, and four totally separate sources (a local, two AIs, and all 41 strangers on Google) landed on the same spot. When nobody disagrees, that’s not luck. That’s a verdict. It’s a hidden cacao-garden, jungle-meets-retro hideaway near Playa Bonita — a glorious escape from the wall of reggaeton every other bar in town is blasting. The cocktails are the kind that ruin you for normal bars: I had the Ice High (pineapple tequila, lime, bitters — criminally fresh), a textbook Pisco Sour, and the Chill Pana (Maps swears it’s called “Chill Pisco” — order both, settle the debate). As a Mexican, their tequila wall genuinely got me. Herradura, present and accounted for. The internet votes Island Dominó; Gemini pushes the Mexican Train. They’re all right. Two warnings, both said with love. One: eat first. It’s drinks + snacks only, so have a real dinner with the sunset, then come — or you’ll be making a meal out of empanaditas. Two: the mosquitoes. When a human and a robot who’ve never met both independently scream “bug spray,” you bring the bug spray. You’re drinking in a jungle; the jungle drinks back. And the night? Gemini said Thursday. The locals said Saturday. Saturday’s the DJ — so if you want the garden to turn into a dance floor, ignore the machine and book the weekend. Cheap or pricey, I don’t care. Only the best place to go — and tonight, this is it. Next stop: tomorrow we chase a real dinner at La Tre Caravelle. Bring an appetite this time. 🍤
Super cool experience. Cocktails are definitely at another level. Compared to the cocktail scene of NYC. The vibe is amazing and honestly is such a refreshing getaway from the typical bachata and reggaeton music. My new favorite place at Las Terrenas.
Great drinks, excellent novel cocktails - try the Island Domino or Chill Pisco. Great DJ, in the greenery. Love it. Nothing like it in Terrenas!
Randomly stumbled upon this place at my stay in Las Terrenas and I am so glad we did. Chin Chin was such a fun vibe with a beautiful and unique space. I love a cocktail bar and the cocktails here were amazing. Island Domino was my favorite. Gustavo helped us out and was lovely! They’re pretty new but he mentioned that they have DJs on Saturdays and they’re trying to get a DJ for Fridays as well, so will be a fun place to dance and hang. I’m already planning on going back later this week with my family. They also own the bodega next door and you can purchase snacks and take it to Chin Chin, a nice tip.
This new jungle meets retro cocktail bar in Las Terrenas is pure magic. Every detail is curated with love and cocktails are delicious. A must-visit when in town!!
