This was an excellent experience from start to finish. Service was consistently strong. Every staff member I interacted with was professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. It felt like the team was well trained and actually cared about the guest experience. The rooms were spacious, well designed, and extremely comfortable. Everything was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully set up. It felt like a true five star standard. The overall property is beautiful and well kept, with a calm, polished atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. This hotel stands out. It delivers on what it promises and does so consistently. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Santo Domingo. It’s a standout property and easily one of the best options in the city.
Hotel Embajador The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and well maintained. However, the checkout experience was confusing. At the front desk I was initially told everything was fine and that I could leave, but moments later I was asked to wait for someone to inspect the room. This process should be better coordinated, especially since an incidental hold is already in place to cover any additional charges. With a smoother checkout system, the overall experience would be much better.
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with my partner. The reason why we stayed here was because we stayed at a Barcelo property in Jakarta, Indonesia and their breakfast was outstanding. We were expecting something similar at this property, however, the breakfast food was average and nothing to brag about. The building is old, I’d say circa 1950s. There are water damages on the lobby entrance. Although our room was large and comfortable, the night stand lights were not working. I let management know TWICE about it and nothing was done. They told me someone would be up to fix it and nothing happened. Some of the staff is not as friendly as others. Location is central but there are other hotels just as central so if you can stay somewhere else to do. I will not be staying here when I come to the island to visit relatives.
I had $300 stolen from my luggage while staying in my room. We’ve stayed at this hotel for years and have always recommended it to others, but this visit was extremely disappointing. The hotel has clearly declined since our last stay — the service has deteriorated, and the property no longer feels safe or well-managed. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience and deeply troubled by how this situation was handled. I have serious concerns about staying at any hotel that appears willing to overlook dishonest behavior from its staff. During my stay, I was on the 7th floor, which, along with floors 8 and 9, is marketed as a more private and luxurious section of the hotel with its own elevator, check-in, and dining areas. Given the premium price and the reputation of the brand, I expected a higher level of professionalism and integrity. On the morning of my check-out, I accidentally left two gold bracelets on the counter in my room. I remember exactly where they were because I had taken them off there the night before. We left very early that morning and unfortunately forgot to grab them. As soon as I arrived home, I immediately called the hotel to report the items and explained precisely where they had been left. The staff member I spoke with informed me that management checked the room and that the bracelets were not found. This response was extremely disappointing. Given that I clearly described their location and reported the items immediately after leaving, it raises serious concerns about what happened to them. Situations like this are exactly why guests choose higher-end hotels and pay extra for premium floors — because they expect trust, accountability, and professionalism from the staff. Unfortunately, this experience has left me with the opposite impression. My stay was from February 26 to March 1, as I traveled to attend my cousin’s wedding at the hotel. My family lives in the Dominican Republic, and I visit often. However, after this experience, I will not be staying at this hotel again, nor will I choose other properties within this brand in the future. This was a very disappointing experience and not what one expects from a hotel that presents itself as a luxury destination.
