I visited Mosquito Beach Bar with a group of 9 friends and family, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. When we first arrived, we were told they couldn’t accommodate us because they had a wedding reservation. Then we were told they didn’t have any food or drinks available. It wasn’t until my sister mentioned that we would be leaving a review about our experience that we were suddenly provided with a menu. That inconsistency immediately felt unprofessional. The most uncomfortable part of the experience, however, was the treatment we received. There was no music playing at the venue, so we played music at a moderate volume at our table. A woman who appeared to be the owner or manager asked staff to tell us to turn it off. The interaction felt targeted and unnecessary. As locals in our own country, we felt unwelcome and singled out. The energy was noticeably different compared to other guests. Before we left, another couple arrived and sat on a large couch, and she immediately approached them and told them they could not sit there. The overall atmosphere felt selective and unwelcoming. What makes this even more disappointing is that Porto by Mosquito, Mosquito Rooftop, and the downstairs lounge provided the complete opposite experience welcoming, warm, and excellent service. I’ve also visited Mosquito Bar in Santo Domingo and had a very pleasant experience there. It’s unfortunate that this particular location made us feel like we did not fit their “aesthetic.” Hospitality should make everyone feel comfortable and respected. Very disappointing experience.
This is a fun place to check out with incredible views and atmosphere! The bar is well stocked and there are a lot of items to choose from, and they have some fun drinks too.The view is dreamy, you really feel like you are somewhere special. We had caipariñas, they were well made and delicious. Side note, the bartender did a lot of touching his face and nose without washing his hands, which was a bit of a turn off for us. We paid up at the bar and got a table for lunch, which opens at 12:00 and we ordered tacos de camarones and a Peruvian dish, pescado a lo macho con camarones. Wow 🤩 This was a delicious find! I am still thinking about how great this was. It also came out with a lobster on top, which was not mentioned on the menu, nice surprise! The tacos were less amazing. Good salsa, great mango, but the camarones were served cold, a bit of a surprise to us because we are used to hot camarones in our tacos. Now, the service. When we got our table, no one came to assist us. We sat there a while, then we got up and went and found a waiter, who was nice and willing to take our order, but I don’t know how long we would have waited otherwise. There was a group of 5-6 waiters hanging out at the bar, all of them on their phones. Food came out relatively quickly, but we got our order in before the rest of the 30-40 patrons who were also waiting at tables, so I don’t know how long you would have to wait on a busy night. So, the wrap up is this, amazing location, great atmosphere, good food and drinks, just be prepared for the service issue. Definitely worth checking out!
What a beautiful cozy spot to chill for a day at the beach. The food was excellent. The drinks were superb and the staff were very attentive. I loved it. We were all alone resting and enjoying our day. It was low season so I'm sure it's busier when it's full of tourists but for an October afternoon, it was awesome.
Mosquito Bar has a great concept — the food is genuinely very good, well-prepared, and flavorful. The atmosphere is also really nice, with a relaxed vibe that makes the place enjoyable. However, the service was extremely disappointing — honestly one of the worst I’ve experienced. The staff seemed completely unorganized, with multiple waiters “running around” without clear coordination. What makes it even more surprising is that the bar wasn’t even busy, yet the service was still incredibly slow. At one point, it took nearly 30 minutes just to get a simple beer to the table, which significantly impacted the overall experience. Overall: worth it for the food and ambiance, but be prepared to deal with very poor service — this is something that needs serious improvement.
An absolute must if you are in the area!! Very good cocktails and the view at sunset is incredible. There was a DJ when we went and the vibe was great. A lot of people taking pictures which can be obnoxious but hey guilty as charged. One of the best bars we went to in DM. Prices are ok, but in the pricier range (8/9USD per cocktail)
