This is a very impressive fortress that immediately stands out for its scale, history, and commanding presence. Walking through the site, you can easily appreciate its strategic importance and imagine the role it once played in protecting the city and its harbor. The structure is well worth visiting, especially for those interested in history, architecture, or military heritage. The thick stone walls, historic cannons, and panoramic views create a memorable experience and provide excellent opportunities for photography. One important thing to keep in mind is that the entrance fee can only be paid in cash. This may catch some visitors by surprise, so it is a good idea to bring cash with you before arriving to avoid any inconvenience. Overall, this is a fascinating and highly worthwhile historical site. The fortress is full of character and history, and the visit is well worth the admission fee—just remember to bring cash.

This museam has multiple features. Firstly the rich historical architecture, secondly the excellent story telling via audio visuals (English and Spanish), the well kept landscape, and an incredible view. The price is very cheap and well worth checking it out. In addition, the location is in La Zona Colonial which is where you will find loads of eateries, museams, music, bars, hotels, stores, and all the things you came to in Santo Domingo. The people are very nice and I would highly recommend starting a conversation as they enjoy educating people about their rich culture. A great experience for all ages!

Fortaleza Ozama was honestly one of the highlights of Santo Domingo. The history, the views, and the atmosphere are incredible. You can really feel how old and important the place is while walking through it. The staff and guides were friendly, and the whole area is clean and well maintained. If you’re visiting the Zona Colonial, this is a must-see spot. Definitely worth the visit.

We have mixed feelings about this place... There's a lot of potential but not properly maximized. The views are great and it's definitely worth visiting this fort to learn and better understand the Dominican history. The main problem is all those visual displays that they seem to have installed recently. It feels like all those different displays were designed and the scripts were written by different people who didn't interact with each other once. The art is different, the themes sometimes don't make sense or overlap. Sometimes you go back in time, it's very messy and not logical. Don't get me wrong: you'll learn some stuff but this could be 100x better if only there was a logical coherence and progression as you watch those displays and mini movies. Tickets are 200 DOP / person. You can easily buy them inside at the desk.

Staff is nice and helpful. In my opinion, this place is for people interested in military and history. It's kinda empty, not so much to see.
