I have been visiting the DR, living on and off since 1999. But yet I've never needed or required emergency services. Until I did and i visited this hospital this past Wednesday 12/3/25 due to some breathing issues. I was impressed with the state and operation of this hospital. I honestly felt comfortable like visiting a hospital back home in the states. The place was clean the Doctors were amazing. I honestly would recommend this hospital to anyone that needs or would need great medical attention while in Santiago or the DR overall. Even the food brought to the room was pretty good. The girls in global service thank you great job as well. Not perfect but with some small adjustments this could really be the top of the line hospital in the Dominican Republic. The processes could be better. Especially the parking. 5 starts in The DR.. my humble opinion.
My experience at HOMS Hospital had some severe challenges at first, as there were concerns about payment before proceeding with my emergency C-section. They wanted me to pay 7000 US dollars before performing a csection while I was in active labor. It was a very stressful moment for me as a new mother not to mention an illegal practice. I had to call the police, the Ministry de Salud and start recording on my phone before they agreed to help me deliver my baby who already had zero fluid and was in distress. Prior to that, they were ready to send me out the door to find another hospital. All while in active labor. The anesthesiologist, who is also pictured in this photo. (the very young guy with the orange stanley cup) is the one who performed my spinal injection prior to my csection. It took him THREE ATTEMPTS to perform the spinal injection before they finally called in someone else to do it properly. That was the hardest part for me and a worst nightmare for some. I do want to take this opportunity to highlight Dr. Cabrera Martinez, the incredible doctor who eventually performed my surgery. Dr.Cabrera would receive a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the other things unrelated to him that happened during my stay. Thanks soley to Dr. Cabrera Martinez’s skill, professionalism, and compassion, everything went smoothly and safely for both me and my baby afterwards. He and his team truly made all the difference during one of the most important and difficult moments of my life. Doctors like him are rare to come across, and I consider him a true blessing. Because of him, I was able to leave with a positive outcome and gratitude in my heart. Pictured is me and my husband, who got to witness her entire birth at this hospital. Afterwards we spent 3 days together in a private room given to us along with 3 meals a day. All of the maternity nurses were very kind especially the pediatrician Dr.Perez who helped guide me the entire time. Dr. Cabrera and is his team are proof that good people still exist in this world even when everyone is not always like that.
I've never been admitted there but have had family members who like it better than any other hospital in Santiago Dominican Republic
Great hospital. Friendly we’ll trained doctors. Nice clean environment. Nice waiting area, plaza where you can find good things to eat. On certain days there are long lines but that’s to be expected. Only issue is that it’s hard to find a wheelchair, but the staff does work hard to look for one.
Stayed 2 days nurses was nice but housekeeping never cleaned the room the time of our stay ordered food from cafeteria took over an hour to get it once it was delivered fries was cold and hard
