My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week for our birthdays and had an amazing time! This 11-room boutique hotel was perfect for our needs - a quiet and peaceful getaway with restaurants, shops, and a beautiful marina in walking distance. Jonel and the staff here were incredibly friendly and attentive. They gave excellent advice when I had a stomach bug during the second day of our stay. The beach is also in close proximity, and staff drove us there in the golf cart on demand. All and all, an excellent stay! Would love to be back again!
I am hard-pressed to believe the reviews that are posted about this "hotel" - - at least from the unfortunate souls assigned to room 11, of this 11 room glorified bed and breakfast. The room is extremely small with only one small window located in the corner of the room and that is covered by heavy shutters and curtains. Upon check in, the room a) had NO towels, b) NO working lamps, c) NO working TV, d) a shower that floods the bathroom due to a gap between door and floor, and a persistent moldy smell in the bathroom. Ironically there is a connecting room that had noise and light streaming under the door 24/7 close to the head of the bed. The front desk attendant doubles as the waiter/ barista/ bar tender. Lastly, beyond the manager, the staff speaks/ comprehends very little English which is unfortunate given that nearly all of the guests during my stay were not Spanish speakers. Staff was kind and pleasant but ill -equipped to be customer facing. Don't get me started on the "pool" which is similar in size to cold plunge tub. For what its worth, I thought it was some sort of fountain or birdbath. The scenery, ocean, and golf are so spectacular that these guys get away with this. There are other better options.
Just got back from staying at Don Luis Cap Cana. I don’t usually like all‑inclusive resorts since I don’t drink, and this was an affordable option in Cap Cana. The rooms are rustic, as the property was converted from a church into hotel rooms. The place has character, which I appreciate. The shower had hot water with good pressure. The TV requires you to log into your own streaming services. I thought the location in Cap Cana was great since it was close to the good restaurants (expect to pay around 75 to 150 USD for a couple). One thing to note: if you’re staying over the weekend (Saturday) and you value sleep, you might deal with loud music from a bar or pool party nearby. It was loud until about 2 AM. Staying at Don Luis also gives you access to a nice pool area above the hotel, which my wife and I enjoyed. The staff at the front desk were fantastic. I rented a golf cart for a day to drive around Cap Cana for 105 USD, and I thought it was worth it. The front desk also let us recharge the cart at the hotel. Everywhere we went in Cap Cana accepted USD, and it actually seemed to be the preferred method of payment. No need to get pesos. The taxi ride to and from the airport was 35 USD. During our stay, we didn’t see many people in the water at the beaches, most likely due to the yellow‑flag weather conditions. While exploring with the golf cart, we found a cool little place called Azul Lago. It was free to enter and is a tiny, calm freshwater lagoon you can swim in. If you’re a birder, it also has a trail you can walk for birdwatching.
My friend and I lodged in hotel casa don Luis a week ago and we had the best time. We had booked it primarily for the beautiful tropical aesthetic and it looked even better in person. Checking in was seamless and the ambience of the hotel is serene and relaxing. The hotel is beside the beautiful marina where you can catch the most beautiful sunrise/sunsets. It is located in a safe spot inside Cap Cana and security is top notch. The hotel has a small intimate pool at the center that guests can relax in during or after a long day. I like that it is a boutique hotel so it makes your stay feel very exclusive with lots of privacy. It is nice that there are a couple of options for cafes/restaurants around the hotel in case you don’t want to go far away. There is also a mini-market nearby. The staffs at this hotel were so pleasant and of note is their receptionist, Jonel, who is such a sweetheart that will relentlessly go above and beyond to ensure all guests have a wonderful stay (he also speaks 7 languages!) My friend and I highly recommended this place and will definitely book again when back in Punta Cana.
Exceptional Service at Hotel Don Luis Cap Cana! My stay at Hotel Don Luis Cap Cana was truly unforgettable, thanks to the incredible service from Jonel. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Jonel was attentive, kind, and genuinely cared about our experience. Whether it was helping us with reservations, checking in to ensure we were enjoying our stay, or simply greeting us with a smile every day, his professionalism and warmth stood out. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to customer satisfaction. Because of Jonel, our visit felt extra special, and we left with wonderful memories. I highly recommend Hotel Don Luis Cap Cana—and especially Jonel—for anyone looking for top-tier hospitality and genuine care.
