I want to start by saying how much I truly enjoyed my stay at the InterContinental Hotel. From the moment you arrive, the service begins immediately, with a warm greeting from the bellman who is ready to assist you. The front desk staff are attentive and welcoming, and that level of care continues throughout the entire stay. Housekeeping does an excellent job keeping the rooms spotless and comfortable. Room service was efficient, and when I had clothes sent for dry cleaning and laundry, everything was returned promptly and in perfect condition. I also really enjoyed the service from the pool bar staff and the restaurant team, who were both friendly and professional. The view from the 18th floor was breathtaking — I loved being able to watch both the sunrise and sunset from my room. What truly made my stay unforgettable was a special birthday surprise. I received a knock on my door, and the hotel staff presented me with a beautiful strawberry cheesecake with a candle and “Happy Birthday” written in Spanish in chocolate. It brought tears to my eyes to be recognized in such a thoughtful way by the hotel. It was a wonderful moment that I will always cherish. This hotel truly knows how to do hospitality the right way, and I would gladly stay here again.
My husband and I stayed there a week ago and I have mixed feelings. By one hand, the location is excellent, staff very kind, and room very clean and with an excellent view towards Ave Churchill, but the reason why I give it a 3 rating is because of the actual room fixtures. The first thing we noticed was how hard the mattresses are. There is no way I could have a good night sleep on a mattress as hard as the floor. Thank God there was a long chair an extra blanket and decorative pillows. Second, the shower faucet did not work right. It took me about 15 minutes to go from extremely cold to just ambiance temperature, not even warm. My husband was more patient and waited 30 minutes but no warm water. The other thing was the faulty A/C thermostate, I guess. Since it was off when we arrived, I first set it at 25 C, and left for a couple hours during the evening. In the middle of the night was sooo cold, so I set it at 28 C, but no change. It was fixed at the same setting all the time. It was so cold that it woke me up every hour during the night. Then we decided to turn it off completely. You would think that you wouldn't go through so much inconvenience at a well regarded hotel, but yes it happened. I hope Management put more attention to these details, because the facility is beautiful and has a very convenient location.
The room was comfortable and the hotel was beautiful, as were the views. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely pay extra for access to the lounge (comes with breakfast and dinner)— it was well worth it. Great amenities, especially the pool and gym. Will definitely stay here again the next time I am in the capital.
