The only good thing about this place is the location. Do NOT stay here. The rooms are absolutely disgusting — there’s black mold, the sheets are dirty and smell like wet dog, and the hotel looks NOTHING like the photos online. They stretch (0.5x) all their pictures on Airbnb/Booking so the rooms look way bigger and nicer than they really are. This is outright false advertising. I almost never leave negative reviews, but this place is beyond unacceptable. I demand a refund. Even something as simple as buying water was a nightmare — the fridge in the lobby isn’t part of the hotel, and they refused to take card payments. Bottom line: the listings are completely misleading, the rooms are filthy, and the management is incompetent. I will never stay here again, and nobody should. Refund me immediately.

The hotel has terrible customer service, the rooms are old, the bathroom is old, small, and dirty, the refrigerator in the room is broken, and the door locks are broken. I do not recommend it.

Rooms disappointing due to exceptionally tiny bathroom so it's very uncomfortable to take a shower. No toiletries provided. No bedside lamp so to turn light off have to get out of bed and go across room. No windows so it felt like being inside a cell. Maybe other rooms are nicer but ours was not so great. From cleanliness point of view it was spotless and nicely furnished.

This is NOT a hostel. It’s actually a hotel. A good one at that. Stumbled on this spot as I was looking for a place to stay in the Colonial Zone. I’m glad I found it. I was originally going to stay for 2 nights but ended up extending it to 5. Doesn’t have the amenities of a 5-star but had what I needed. Rooms are clean. Cold AC. Bed was comfortable. Small fridge with complimentary water bottles. Rates are low. It’s located close to all the action but far enough from the noise. Loved waking up in the mornings and sitting in the common area and balcony on my floor (3rd). Only complaint I have is bathrooms were a little small. Other than that a great love to stay for a very reasonable price ($69 p/n).

Addressing my three pivotal aspects of a hotel stay – cleanliness, customer service, and bathrooms – La Colonia Hotel impresses with a flawless 10/10 cleanliness rating, evident in both common areas and rooms. Considering the budget category, the staff's overall demeanor receives a solid 10/10, acknowledging cultural differences and appreciating their niceness and respectfulness. However, it's essential to note that the bathrooms, while impeccably clean, are on the smaller side. With toilets situated approximately one foot away from sinks and showers measuring around 4ft by 4ft, individuals of larger stature or over 6ft might find these bathrooms cramped. An interesting backstory reveals that the hotel's lack of construction oversight in the early 2000s led to this and discovered too late for modification. Some considerations to note include the absence of an elevator, and there are 4 floors, which may pose a challenge for guests with multiple or large luggage. Communication could be enhanced, as the hotel's primary quick-response channel is direct calls, with email and social media presenting less effective alternatives. Despite these minor drawbacks, our group of 7 adults and 1 child enjoyed a pleasant stay, appreciating the hotel's essential offerings and its advantageous location. La Colonia Hotel proves that within its budget category, it delivers a satisfying experience worth considering for budget-conscious travelers.
