I thought the room was nice and updated but needed maintenance. The TV didn't work, the toilet didn't flush right and the sheets were dirty. It is a party hotel, where drink quantity is more important that quality. They serve cheap alcohol with cheap mixers. There is no real juice, just juice flavored water out of the fountain machine. The buffet food was good with large variety. The hotel grounds and beach was beautiful. We were in a group of 12, 6 out of 12 got sick with flu symptoms. Not sure if it was the food, drinks or a virus.
You definitely get what you pay for — no more, no less. The room service was good, and the beach was really beautiful. We still had a great time overall. That said, if you’re a non-smoker, this place can be a nightmare. People smoke everywhere, and it’s honestly unpleasant, we even saw cigarette butts floating in the pool, which was pretty gross. One thing that really concerned me was the cats around the property. They’re all so cute and sweet, but I truly hope someone is taking proper care of them. We asked a staff member if there was a vet or any kind of program for them, and he didn’t seem to know. I really think the entire RIU complex should consider having a program in place to care for the kitties. Despite all that, we did have fun, the RIU parties are wild 🔥🔥 and definitely a highlight of the stay!
Its a great resort for the price. There was a wide range of people there age wise, but it is definitely geared towards the younger crowd. If you value quite, make sure to request a room far from the disco or you'll be up all night. The beach was clean with perfect white sand and crystal clear water. The rooms werent as clean as I would have liked. But they were satisfactory. Also, a lot of the workers dont seem to have all the right info. We asked where we could eat at 12pm and we're told to go to places that either didn't have food, or weren't open til 1230/1. Food was decent. There was also a swampy area that went through the property that smelled a little. But overall a solid 3 stars.
Great hotel , good food, amazing facilities had a great time and recommended the hotel. The only thing I dont recommend is having to deal with Dennis. After my friend who made the booking for us months earlier was sick and had miss our tour and go straight to our new hotel i came later to meet my friend in the lobby and check in. Dennis wouldn't allow me through security because after telling him the correct name the 2 rooms were booked under and what we booked on he said it was only 1 room ( this was a lie or just beyond me how he wasn't knowledable enough with the system to tell if it was 1 or 2 rooms. Finally hr miraculously worked out it was 2 rooms booked but insisted my friend booked 2 rooms for himself only. Why anyone would do this is beyond me at an all inclusive resort. Thankfully after managing to speak to another woman on the phone at the security gate she was able understand that 2 rooms were booked and probably not for 1 person. Then at the check in desk I was unfortunate enough to encounter Dennis again who after more frustration because he couldnt search a booking by the name and who it was through he deliberatey used his thump to bend in and attempt to damage the photo page of my passport which I have never seen any other hotel worker do before. I immediately took it back and managed to straighten it out. But you can where he has done it on the edges still. Be wary of having to deal with him and ask for anyone else if you can. Know this man is also a liar and will damage your things when you prove him wrong. Absolutely should not have a job in a hotel Other than that good hotel, and worth the stay
Do not book this property expecting a true five-star experience, it’s realistically closer to a 3 to 3.5-star party resort. Yes, the location is great and right on the beach, and the atmosphere is lively if you’re looking for a younger, high-energy party vibe (which can get quite rowdy). That’s honestly where most of the positives end. The biggest issue was service, especially at reception. Front desk staff were consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. While a few staff members elsewhere were friendly, the reception experience set a very negative tone. Even when we escalated a serious pricing issue to management on site, the response was essentially “take it or leave it,” with zero effort to investigate or resolve the concern. Speaking of pricing, there was a major discrepancy between the advertised rate on Booking.com and what we were ultimately charged at the property. We tried repeatedly to contact the resort before arrival to confirm the final price after adding a second guest, but our calls and emails went unanswered. We were only informed of the significantly higher cost when we arrived, which left us with no real options. Beyond that, the rooms felt dated and run down, facilities did not reflect five-star standards, and food quality and hygiene were inconsistent during our stay. Overall, this did not feel like the typical Riu standard. If you’re expecting professionalism, transparency, or a genuine five-star resort experience, you will likely be disappointed.
