We book a reservation on 11/07/2024 for Nov. 8-9, we did it over the phone, the clerk asked us what time we were going to arrive, I said between 7 and 8 PM the following day. We arrived about 7:30 PM and were welcome by the person who did the reservation, another clerk was seating at the computer when we gave our names he said: "Your reservation had been given to another person who was in a group and has priority over you". We told him that there was going to be problems if they did not get me a room. What ever we said did not matter, he said that he was not responsible. After arguing for about 20 minutes I told him and showed proves that I had been a sub director of tourism and also a Consul General in the USA and that we had promoted the Dominican Republic overseas and that we incremented the amount of tourists with a lot of sacrifices and that his company (Royal Palace) was doing an economic damage to the D.R. and that We were going to report them to Association of Hotel and Restaurant of the D.R., to the department of tourism, to the presidential palace and to the press and that the Royal Palace would get one star. After they realized that I was telling the truth, immediately the clerk pickup the phone found another hotel for us, offer us a free room for the following day, call a Uber taxi and was going to pay the driver. We did not accept none of the offers, neither returned the following day as they asked us. Can anyone imagine the feelings of someone arriving from Europe or the USA or any other country who is confronted with such a travesty?
Decent place to stay with friendly and helpful staff. A bit hard to locate if your driver (or you) is not familiar with the area. Great place as a base for exploring the city. No restaurant at the hotel, so you will have to get your own grub. Some rooms have a small kitchen and supermarkets are nearby. Good bang for the buck.
Great location in the middle of everything. It was walking distance to the malecón. Very affordable and nice small boutique hotel reminiscent of hotels in small towns in Spain and Italy. The workers were very friendly. If your looking for somewhere affordable and cozy this is it.
Puppies should not be fighting outside my room but I can hear them every morning like clockwork.
Place is good to stay short term. Not as fancy but it does the job. It provides all the basics to be comfortable
