This is the fourth time in five years that I've stayed at this hotel. We always take one of the "budget" rooms. They're not fancy but they are quiet, clean, comfortable, and secure. The pool is fantastic, there are places to sit outside, nice gardens, the staff are friendly and professional. There is an onsite restaurant which is serves good but basic food. It is a little expensive but I am happy to pay for the convenience of fresh food and not having to go out. I've met the manager several times. She is a delightful lady who keeps a careful eye on all details. Outside doors and gates are well monitored. Santo Domingo is a tough town. I appreciate is that the Tropicana is a safe haven where we can relax and recharge for a very reasonable charge.
I'm gonna start by saying be careful!!. The experience was not safe. Takes too long to open the gate. And you are a sitting duck, the food quality What's horrible and the menu was slim. Made a reservation online with 2 queen size Beds up to for 4 people. then I was told I had 2 bedrooms with 2 standard beds for 2 people i have shown the receipt and the reception and owner insisted the computer showed I had payed less, ontop of that we just when back and forth and sat in the lobby for an extra 3 hours. In the end I ended up paying 95 dollars extra a night. 570$ in total. I would never recommend this to my worst enemy.
Clean rooms and friendly staff really make this place stand out. Reasonably priced and in a convenient location. Nice pool area and the on-site restaurant has a good menu. Bi-lingual (ESP/ENG) front desk makes for a very easy experience. We will be back often.
Rooms fine, stuff is very nice and helpful. High value for money. Good location If you want to stay close by the airport. Shared areas as pool and restaurants are very nice and good Wi-Fi is available!
It was very good. They make you feel like home. If you need special food accommodations they will do there best to make sure you eat what you like. My mom and I are enjoying our stay. 3.5 stars
