The Iberostar Golf Course in Bávaro is visually stunning—beautiful entrance, immaculate landscaping, and a gorgeous track overall. Unfortunately, the service and organization seriously detracted from the experience. At the pro shop, the staff seemed poorly trained. I had to ask for the Dominican resident discount, which was never offered when I booked, and it took 10–15 minutes to get it applied. What really surprised me was that they required full prepayment 15 days in advance for the tee time—something I’ve never experienced at any other golf course unless it’s a heavily discounted rate. Most courses simply hold a card. I was given a coupon for the 19th Hole restaurant but wasn’t told that I needed to purchase a drink before redeeming it for a sandwich. That felt like a bait-and-switch, and to make it more confusing, the restaurant manager explained that they’re not affiliated with the golf course—despite being in the same building. The lack of clear communication was frustrating. On the course, it felt like everything was nickel-and-dimed. Even water was tightly controlled, and the food cart wouldn’t give another bottle until you finished the one you had. In the Bavaro heat, that’s not ideal—especially since you never know when you’ll see the cart again. They also reuse water bottles, which is unhygienic and disappointing for a premium resort course. The course itself is gorgeous, and I was lucky to be paired with great playing partners, but the confusion, poor service, and questionable policies really overshadowed the experience. With better training, transparency, and customer-focused policies, this could be a top-tier golf destination.
We went in Jan of 2026, we go to this place every year. It’s a very nice golf course; however, the tee times were poorly organized. We made a reservation ahead of time, but they had a group outing and there was a massive delay. I understand that they are trying to make money, but they cannot overbook and not respect players’ tee times
If you are looking for a premier golfing experience in the Dominican Republic, the Iberostar Golf Club Bávaro is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear that this is a world-class, top-notch facility designed for those who truly appreciate the game. Why It Stands Out: Impeccable Conditioning: The course is incredibly well-manicured. The fairways feel like carpet, and the greens are fast, true, and maintained to a professional standard. Stunning Aesthetics: It is an absolutely amazing place to spend a day. The lush tropical landscaping and strategic bunkers make every hole a visual treat. Elite Service: The staff goes above and beyond, but the standout was our golf caddie. They were super helpful with course navigation and reading the greens, all while being genuinely nice and professional. Final Verdict Whether you are a seasoned pro or a casual player, Iberostar delivers a luxury golfing atmosphere that is hard to beat. It’s easily one of the finest courses in the Caribbean.
Great golf track lots of fun. Good for all level of play. Mostly elevated greens and well protected. Start of with the white tees. You will thank me later. And drink lots of water. Really hot this time of the year
The course is in great condition and the value is hard to beat (I paid $89/round including cart, range and drinks/food from the beverage cart). NOTE: I brought my own clubs, but they do have nice rental sets (Titleist and Taylormade were available). The range was well maintained and had nice targets. The fairways and green were in excellent condition. Pace of play was excellent as well. The staff were friendly and the beverage cart was seen every couple of holes.
