Perfect location in the Zona Colonial. It's in a locked building, in a gorgeous historic building right off a main street. The place is squeaky clean, and made for a true backpacker experience- common spaces are designed to facilitate easily meeting people, as is the (included) communal breakfast. Showers had great pressure and there are lockers in the dorms. Super highly recommend!

Easily one of my favorite places in the Dominican Republic. Nice people, clean and cheap rooms, and great location to explore the Colonial Zone by foot. If you‘re looking fir a Hostel, this is the place to be in Santo Domingo! nothing beats the location to this fabulous sanctuary in fine zona colonial. it feels amazing to be welcomed as if a family member: the cousin, uncle, brother in law that had been away for so long -- only if it only means being away for a weekend in puerto plata. one thing that can be a challenge within premisses is the air-con situation. and yet, it is the best excuse to be out and about (trying to become a local) to exploring santo domingo. "if you're an animal" lover, you'd be right in dog heaven. if not, not to worry. the bar area will not be for you. salsa dancing, long conversations in spanish, hugs, and tons of culture come free at IL, do take advantage of that. you'll be and feel richer, enlightened and happy after your DR visit and to have stayed at IL. 😉🌍

The owner, Chris, is awesome. Really fun hostel with really fair prices. Only place to stay in Santo Domingo.
