The beach is superb and very quiet even on a Sunday. Easy to walk to along the shore from Las Galeras main beach. There was a roped area in the bay with "do not enter" signs. No-one on the beach to explain what it was about, found the story only afterwards here in Google reviews. I didn't enter but snorkeled around it, there were no corals just sand and some seagrass & a few small fish - also the water was quite murky due to big waves breaking at the reef.

Unfortunately Mr. Kaio is dead since years, so everything moves back to nature, since nobody like Mr. Kaio takes care of it anymore. But at the end at least part of the area is still nice with a variety of fish and corals, so it’s still worth snorkelling there. But if you are asked to pay for the „entrance“ 1.000 pesos (or 15 USD) upfront, that’s way to much in the actual condition …

Beach is awesome, but you can't own the water or the things in the water. The aforementioned man has passed away, unfortunately. It is roped off with "do not enter" in English. My wife and I went on our own with our own gear and swam out to see this marvelous place. Just as we reached the roped off area a man, not the "owner" obviously, came running down the beach waving a red flag and blowing a whistle. Every part of my being wanted to ignore him, but my wife did not. So we swam around and saw little to nothing. Again, the waters in the DR are open to the public. I wish the man had been on the beach waiting for us. Instead, he as nowhere to be seen. There is a large resort there, and the beach is fine white sand. It is beyond beautiful, but I will be ignoring the whistle next time and enter from a different area, if I ever go back. There are better places. I understand not wanting fishermen, but we just look.

This is a MUST DO experience! Snorkel with the fish in a shallow bay with gentle ocean waters. The owner will boat you out to the aquarium (100m from shore) and then you can snorkel through ancient corals, view brightly coloured fish and swim with some large yellow Jacks.

I went there yesterday afternoon and got a little bit seasick. The owner of this wonderful place insisted on me coming back this morning and although I was sceptical and didn’t want to get seasick again I came back. Thank god i did. It was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had. The guide is so lovely and funny I just can recommend everyone to do this. It’s an experience you won’t forget! However do not eat anything before otherwise you end up like me seasick .... 😍😍😍😍😍😍
