By far the BEST restaurant we ate at during our vacation. There are many places to choose from on the beach, but this place was special. The food was outstanding, the drinks were strong (in the best way), and the service was significantly better than any other restaurant we went to while we visited. The restaurant is ran by mostly women and I believe their attention to detail is something that is missing from most other places surrounding it. They aren’t interested in just getting your business- they want you to enjoy the meal and the experience and they leave you better than they found you. We will be back. Also- Clara was our server and she made all of the difference in our time here. Her recommendations, her willingness to help communicate with us, and her positivity were only a few of the things we will remember about her. Bravo, ladies!!!!! We are fans. Thank you for the hospitality.
The owner and staff (Clara) are simply the best. The owner accomodated us and had the chefs cooked up delicious vegan options. We had some of the best times at the Pirate Hideout--we loved it so much we visited it twice during our trip. Thank you and see you again soon🙏 Please play some Kokoroko in our memory :)
We were curious about the great reviews of this place so we were compelled to eat here of course. We were delighted! They cook very tasty seafood. Highly recommended!
The location is hard to beat, being located directly on the beach. I enjoyed the main dish I had, fresh (re: the waitress and taste), Filet de Dorado (aka mahi-mahi or dolphinfish) salsa coco, grilled with a coconut cream sauce (again re: the waitress). The fish had an excellent flavor and was cooked right, moist and tender, but not over cooked. They also gave me gratis a very tasty appetizer, Arepitas de Bacalao, which I gather (the menu was in Spanish and French) are codfish fritters (2). My quibbles are that the french fries were pretty greasy and not crisp. My Coco Loco cocktail (served in a coconut shell, which I thought was cool), was more watery and not as creamy as others I've had. I'm not sure I'd call the meal a great value, at least by DR standards. However, one should consider it's excellent location. No biggie for me, but if you have questions, it would help a lot to speak Spanish (or, I suppose, French). The restaurant is indeed a good place to watch the sun set. It is also kid and dog friendly. I feel like I'd give it another try when I'm in the mood for a bit of a spluge.
As someone who loves eating ‘pechuga a la pollo’ (chicken breast) and rice and beans. This was hands down the best one I’ve had. So flavorful that I would get this again! I did order this to go but the atmosphere is nice, it’s in the sand and by the beach so it’s a very serene place to eat
