A true home away from home in Las Galeras 🌿 Staying at Las Mariposas felt like stepping into a space where nature, tranquility, and privacy are genuinely respected. The atmosphere is calm, unpretentious, and gives you the freedom to settle in at your own rhythm — no rush, no noise, just ease. What makes this place special is the range of accommodations. You can choose from fully equipped houses with a kitchen, hot water, and very comfortable beds, or go for a simpler, more rustic country-style room or casita with a private bathroom and a charming front porch. Both options offer that same sense of independence and connection to nature. The location is excellent — just a short distance to La Playita and about a 30-minute drive to Playa Rincón, making it a perfect base to explore while still feeling tucked away. But the real gem of Las Mariposas is the people. The team creates a warm, familiar environment where you feel genuinely welcomed. Their approach is relaxed, honest, and kind — no stress, no pressure, just authentic hospitality. This is a beautiful option for families, and it’s also dog-friendly, which adds to that inclusive, home-like feeling. If you’re looking for a place that offers simplicity, comfort, and human warmth in a natural setting, Las Mariposas truly delivers.
domingo and his wife are the perfect hosts that care for all of your needs: they suggested nice beaches and borrowed us a scooter we could get there with. the housing is very comfy and welcoming but the real spectacle is the beautiful garden with the many butterflies🦋 thanks for everything!
Expect basic Dominican Republic style accommodation. We were three staying in the Stella two-floor duplex. PROS: The outdoor kitchen was well furnished, the beds were comfortable, the windows have mosquito screens, there were fans in both rooms and an AC between both the host was friendly, the garden outside is spacious and green, there is room for parking your car inside the garden, good internet and a nice communal area for sitting and chilling with friends. There was a rooftop balcony with a nice view. CONS: We had a car so it was a 6 minute drive, but if you don't, expect a 32 minute walk down to Playa Galeras. Not sound-proof apartment at all so if you're sensitive to noise, bring ear plugs as there's the neighbour's barking and whining dogs at night and in the morning (and also the presence of a rooster). We also had a two floor apartment and the floor boards are very loud when the person above us is moving around (also no door for between upstairs and downstairs bedroom, only the stairs, so you can hear everything). I just saw that it's listed as having free breakfast. We didn't receive that.
Area was very nice. Good water pressure. Hot water heater In Our casita. Close to ocean. Quiet after locals stopped riding the motorbikes. Casita was very clean. Breakfast was inexpensive and very good. Host is Italian and very pleasant.
Beautiful place to stay! Delicious breakfast, comfy beds, amazing views and the grounds are stunning with trees and flowers!!
