A really neat boutique style museum with geological displays for its namesake rock and more. It nicely utilizes the colonial architecture of the building to create engaging displays and a high-end jewelry store is attached for you to peruse. I purchased some beautiful dual sided earrings for my wife. One side amber. The other larimar. They make a gorgeous set that she can alternate or coordinate with. Many other striking pieces are available and the staff at both store and museum are wonderful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Definitely stop in when you visit Zona Colonial.
What an Experience and interesting facts about Amber mining and processing. The stories and the guides are mesmerising. Meeting with the owner Jorge was a honour and help from the team made our journey unforgettable… Highly recommended to visit..
Quick tour. Tickets were $2! Tour guild led us through the small museum and then let us wander back through it as we wanted to read each of the descriptions and watch the video. Very informative. She also didn't push us to buy anything at the end. Quick way to kill some time and learn something new
It was a wonderful experience. I liked how they just left us to roam around on our own and enjoy the pieces at our own pace while learning about their story and history from the cards that are both in Spanish and English. It was amazing to see how they encrusted the amber in the house's architecture. And the jewels are just stunning.
A great little museum! The building it is in is beautiful and the collection is well laid out. 100 DOP to get in so very reasonable. Plus it's right in the colonial section so close to everything! We spent an hour in there.
