THIS IS A TIMESHARE! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT fall for this presentation. They ask you what you do for work, try to manipulate you, butter you up, then show all these fake deals to get you to sign up. You have 5 days to cancel but they LIED and said we couldn't until after the down payment was paid in full. I have contacted them within the 5 days but they are not replying and we feel as if this is done with the purpose of going past the grace period, claiming "it's a process". Shame on this company and its minions.
If I could give 0 stars, that's what I'd put. My parents in law are on their first ever all inclusive vacation at Occidental Costa Cancun hotel right now and got pushed into signing up for their timeshare, which is completely ruining their vacation with all the stress they are causing. They wanted to cancel and when going back to the office (within the 5 days limit from Mexican law) to give a signed letter to the representative (Mr. Cayetano Moctezuma Gomez), he said they couldn't cancel and even refused to give them back their signed letter. They should be ashamed of themselves to take advantage of people like that. Now, we will need to go through a lawyer.
We booked a Wedding at the Barcelo Aruba for next December. When I called OVC in November, I was told I couldn’t book our rooms until 1 year before arrival. I called today and guess what.. I was told there’s no availability. I asked for a manager who was conveniently in a meeting. They gave me an email address that didn’t work so now I have a Wedding booked for my daughter and no rooms!!! Extremely upset, annoyed, disappointed The vacation club has been nothing but trouble
Beware of this company when travelling! My girlfriend and I went on a vacation together. We were informed at check-in at the Occidential Costa Cancun hotel about a free breakfast at their sister hotel, Occidental Tucanun. All we needed to do was sit through a 90 minute presentation while we have breakfast. Do not fall for this! We ended up going for it, however a 90 minute presentation turned into a 4+ hour sales pitch about their vacation club packages. They have heavily misinformed us, lied, and twisted their words during their presentation looking back at it. They pitched it as a way to go on vacations, with heavily discounted hotel rates that are supposedly including air travel. We did not get that far along the process to book another trip, but based on other reviews here it does not. We were told, no interest, yet in the contract it says there is a 10% interest rate. They informed us this is not a time share, but the contract describes it exactly as one that is to be available to use every other year. They informed us you can cancel at anytime once the down payment has been paid in full. This is also a lie. It states on the contract that you have up to five business days to rescind the contract. We are in the process of that now. However, it seems like they are doing everything they can to get us to go beyond that five day grace period to say that it's too late now to cancel. We have made several, attempts via emails and phone calls to cancel, just to be completely ignored, and hung up on every time when we asked them to speak to Rosario. We are continuing this battle, cancelation letters have already been mailed to the organization. Although we are doing everything properly to cancel, it seems like we might need to hire a lawyer to help us get out of this situation. Please, save yourself the time, money, and headaches having to go through this. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING THEY HAVE TO OFFER!!!
I am being honest here. We like the resorts (MX and DR), even though the food could be of better quality, you get what you paid for, I guess. We purchased a plan to visit the resorts every two years as we like to have our options open to other destinations. Did I mention that we spend (not invest) almost 7k in this plan and they have been paid already. So, it is every two years and in total 10 weeks, so it will be 20 years until we run out of the weeks we purchase with them. And, every two years (as this is the plan we choose) we have to pay $300 for maintenance and upkeep, so $7,000 + $300 x10 = $10,000 for the 10 weeks. Last year was cheaper to book directly via booking.com than with them, as you need to pay additional room fees on top of the $7,000 we paid already and don’t forget the maintenance and upkeep fees. Also, last year, as we were late with the “maintenance and upkeep fee” so, they decided to start charging us with late fees per month and as they did not want to waive the late fees, we decided no to pay them, it is not their business to charge clients late fees and that is not how you treat clients that already paid $7,000 upfront (stupid me). So, at the end we were reported to the credit bureau agencies with a delinquent account due to these late fees, which is OK as we don’t use credit that much. However, they do have several business deceptive practices to hook you up with a long-term contract, maintenance and upkeep fees (that increased with inflation) and the room fees. I do strongly regret having signed the contract with them as it is not as described in their “used sales car” speech because, at the end of the day after compensating all their fees, it is more affordable to go to these resorts without a club membership with no real added value.
