Licey Al Medio was a rural section of the municipality of Santiago that was established as a municipal district in March 1958. It was elevated to the status of a municipality on July 13, 1984. The social and cultural aspects of the area have been influenced by a strong religious tradition. The founding of the San Pío X Seminary and the Núñez Molina Vocational Training School resulted in the professional education of dozens of people, fostering positive intellectual development within the community.
