This is one of the most famous and important public squares in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, and it is a place that visitors simply should not miss. The most recognizable landmark here is the statue of Christopher Columbus, which stands proudly in the center of the square and adds to the site's historical character. During my visit, there was live music playing, and the square was full of energy, creating a perfect opportunity to experience the culture and spirit of the Dominican Republic. Watching locals and visitors gather, relax, and enjoy the music makes the experience even more memorable. Overall, this is one of the best places in the Colonial Zone to soak in the atmosphere of Santo Domingo. Between the history, the architecture, the music, and the vibrant local life, it offers a truly authentic taste of the Dominican Republic.

A day for everyone in the family! The Colonial area is beautiful and full shops; food, ice cream, coffee, souvenirs and things to see. Lots of sun coverage, and places to cool off. We found some places VERY over priced ($20US for expresso cup souvenir) and others were greatly priced! So if you like something, but seems expensive, check a shop next door. They are NOT all the same. Coffee was fantastic! Ice cream was fantastic! Food was great! We did not do the tour. I felt like $65-$90 US per person was kind of outrageous. But there also wasn't a lot of resources about where you are or what you're looking at. So I could see where a tour would be useful... just wish the prices were reasonable. Its the equivalent to $650-$900 per person in the US. Insanely expensive IMHO. ** KEY NOTE. Restaurants do charge nearly 30% in local taxes if the bottom of the menu says "taxes not included." We were a little shocked when we got a bill for lunch assuming it was about $70 and was $90. Not a big deal, just nice to know. Most other places we ate on our trip, included tax in their menu prices.

Beautiful, historic site. Can't say enough about this location. Its not just about what you see there, its how you feel. I strongly recommend visiting.

A landmark full of history in Santo Domingo with a prominent statue of Columbus. There will be plenty of tour guides willing to offer their services for about 10usd. Not really necessary if you just follow the map of landmarks in the colonial zone unless you want to know more about the history that they can tell.

I spent Sunday afternoon at Columbus Park The atmosphere was just amazing. There’s live music (they say they play every Sunday afternoon), people dancing, others just sitting around, chatting, watching, enjoying the vibe. It feels very local, relaxed, and full of energy at the same time. If you’re in the city on a Sunday, this place is definitely worth stopping by — great music, good vibes, and a perfect way to experience real Dominican Sunday life.
