Our Lady of Altagracia Church, Santiago de los Caballeros. Construction began in 1874 by decree of Archbishop Fray G. A. Santaché, Apostolic Delegate of the Holy See. Construction was completed 20 years later and it was blessed in 1895. Historian Edwin Espinal says that Santaché thus enforced a parish division ordered in 1854 by Archbishop Portes. In September 1874, the Executive Branch provided the Altagracians with eighty quintals of zinc to roof their church, and in October of the same year, they blessed their baptismal font and bell tower. The original temple of Our Lady of Altagracia Church was replaced by the current one. Construction began in 1947, under the direction of Alfonso Aguayo Ceara. It was consecrated on March 29, 1953, the feast of Palm Sunday. It is a very famous place of worship among the residents of Santiago. Other religious events are also held there, such as wakes, weddings, and communions. It stands opposite Colón Park in Santiago, in the most central area of ​​the Dominican city. The most convenient way to reach it is on foot. It is not far from the famous Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration.

The Cathedral of St. James the Apostle, in the municipality of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, is located within the boundaries of Duarte Park, at 131 Calle del Sol. This Catholic cathedral, built in the Gothic and Neoclassical styles, dates back to the 19th century.
