I first went there for my daughters first communion that was organized by the school she goes to. We had just moved to the Dominican Republic and I found the church to be warm and welcoming. So we started going there for mass and are still going there two years later. Mass is well said and not too long. I did not give it 5 stars because I had a mass sung for my grandparents and the priest could not be bothered to read the names correctly. He started reading and seemed to lose patience and moved on. It felt like he dismissed it because it was foreign. I have a pretty worrisome update to that last comment. It was the celebration of families and here we were at mass with my kids and that same priest stated something along the lines of " I don't know how things are in the neighbouring country, but here in the DR we have family values, this is why we have love for out families and country", 🤯 could not believe my ears. I had to confirm with my kids that that was what he had said, and indeed it was.... I did not expect to that kind of comment from a priest. Why say that if not to creation division, a sense of they are not like us?
Very well organised for Covid. Made to feel very welcome indeed by the Celebrant and the congregation.
