This is our 4th year staying at the Renaissance Jaragua in SD. We look forward to the trip every year. They have a great pool that is always warm. It never feels too crowded. There is a bar at the pool where you could order food and drink drinks. There are lots of lounge, chairs and umbrellas. Palm trees, all around. You can hear the traffic from the street but it is not horrible. The rooms are a great size. There is so much room in them. They come with a desk, a mini fridge, and a chair with a little table to eat or work at. There is a lounge for Marriott elite. It is always stocked with waters and you always have access to coffee. There are usually snacks there and they have some canapés in the evening. I love the breakfast options at the buffet downstairs. There’s an omelette chef so I love to made to order eggs. The coffee is delicious. It is just hard to get the servers there to give you any of it. I usually sit for about 10 minutes before I get up and get coffee myself from the to go table that is set up right outside the restaurant. Sometimes I feel like they don’t even see me in there. I have been sitting on a table where they have served the gentlemen coffee next to me and did not even look at me and walked away. It really is my only complaint. I wish service there was better in the morning. They had a great gym and a lovely spa. It’s very affordable and the massages are amazing. It’s a short Uber ride to the colonial zone. There are also a couple of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel or you can just eat at the hotel.

This is a nice hotel with pretty great service! The hotel is well maintained having seen active work being done in the lobby. The food at the restaurant is pretty good but pricey! The pool and bar were both a highlight, especially the random cat that hung out around the pool she was lovely. Came to Santo Domingo on spring break as a cheaper alternative to Punta Cana, we were situated in a good spot to take a 5-10 minute Uber into Zona Colonial for meals! The casino is pretty big with many open slot machines and more limited card offerings. The staff often spoke intermediate-good English making it easy to communicate for people who speak some Spanish! Santo Domingo is a great place to experience real Dominican culture eat great food and hear great music!

Overall great experience at this property. Ashley was amazing checking me in. She gave a great rundown of all the amenities and services as well as information about the local night life and best restaurants. The room was up to standard, very lady with pool view, not so much of an ocean view but still good views. The room did not have an iron and I called down and one was quickly brought up to the room. The offer water bottles to brush your teeth which is nice for travelers with concerns of local tap water. The pool was amazing, excellent vibe and music. Very nice gym as well… they also have tennis courts available. I did not go to the casino, but other tourist said it was nice. I recommend this Renaissance for a comfortable luxury stay.

Overall the place is very clean and most of the staff are friendly! The only complaint is how grossly overpriced things are inside the hotel! Much of the cost is higher then a hotel in USA. If you think will be less because its in the DR you will be wrong! The cheapest can beer is over 5 dollars. Mixed drink pool 10 plus dollars. Small breakfast buffet 33 dollars. Chicken tenders 20 dollarrs. Very small latte 8 dollars. List goes on! Few drinks everyday pool and a bite to eat on average is 60 dollars. There also was no gift shop to grab small things.

What a terrible experience The staff in the casino is very rude no one speaks English at all presenting a cashier with $100 bill from the US she couldn't understand I wanted pesos to play in the machines. Trying to cash out a whole other matter, rude as can be from the cashier's cage, and by the way there's no free drinks in the casino because the waitresses never come around and no one speaks English to take an order.
