Recommendation: STAY AWAY! Believe it or not, I have never taken the time to write a bad review after a hotel stay. However, there is a first for everything, and the manager of Apartment Coconut really pushed my buttons. Here's why: 1) No communication upon arrival, even though we wrote several times for check-in instructions the day before and on the day for our stay. We decided to just show up, and luckily we met a staff member on her way home, who was able to let us (though clearly confused about our booking). 2) We made a reservation for Apartment 3:"Great Palm View", but was given Apartment 4: "Quiet studio" (quiet = dark), an according to the booking page much smaller apartment, with a view to the backyard, floating with garbage. Other relevant features include: no hot water, ants in the kitchen, wet toiletpapir and a problem with the toilet flush. 3) We asked the manager when we would be able to move into the apt we payed for. He claimed that we did in fact book Apt 4, so no problem there. I sent him our receipt for Apt 3, and he switched tactics, asking us why on earth we would want Apt 3, when Apt 4 in fact was bigger and nicer. 4) We told him that the dark studio did not meet our expectations, not only because of the apartment itself, but also because the owner claims online that Villa Coconut is located within a short walking distance (8 min) from the beach in Samana bay. This is not true, as the distance is 45 min on foot. 5) Now, the manager plays nice and let us know that he is sorry for our bad experience with check-in, and that "every guest is family". He understands why, we are a bit disappointed, and agrees to pay us back three nights worth of money, so we can leave sooner than we planned for, without paying the whole stay. We never saw the money. New excuses kept coming up, and on the day we left, the owner was conveniently "out of town". I have never met a hustler like that, and he will probably comment on this as well, trying to make me sound crazy and demanding. In the end, it is my word against his - but if you chose to go, do not say that I did not warn you :-)

Spotlessly clean and tidy. Very friendly and supportive hosts. Accommodation is 5 min from the center, surrounded with greenery and away from the crowds. There is a pool to chill down.

Very nice experience! The rooms was clean and the view was stunning. We got a lot of help from Franci, as we had no idea how to get around and what we should prefer to do in our short stay. We would definitely come back here!

We booked the tiny house on the rooftop. It was very simple and we loved that. We had a beautiful view of the mountains and the owner was very nice, funny and helped us with everything. I would totally recommend it. Even if it's a little farther away from the port.

Best experience we had ❤️ It was like coming home. I got a lot of respect for Elvin who build such a beautiful place, you also gotta check out the rooftop houses he build. It’s unbelievable. He is VERY helpful and made sure we got on the right busses and helped us finding affordable tours, this was him being kind not his “duty”. And SUPER funny dude. Thanks for everything and we will sure come back 🙏🏽❤️
